How about Getting to Johor Bahru:
A day trip to Johor Bahru, or JB, isn't exactly an idyllic getaway, but many Singaporeans still flock there to shop, eat, top up petrol or even SPA nowadays. It's just a short drive across either of the causeways, but you still get that good feeling of leaving the country, especially when the current exchange rate is around 2.3 ringgit to the Singapore dollar.
You can drive across, take a bus or taxi, or even walk the 2-km length of the Causeway. If you're driving, beware the Woodlands Causeway during peak hours. Go to the Queen Street Bus Terminal to take Service 170 (S$1.20 and not air-conditioned) which will take you to JB in about an hour and then buy an onward ticket from there, paying the same dollar-to-dollar price in Malaysian ringgit rather than S$. Alternatively, take the Singapore-JB Express (S$2.40 and a bit faster) that leave from the station at the corner of Queen St. and Sultan St about every 15 minutes. The other option is to take the MRT to Kranji and catch the bus from there. You can also share a taxi (cost about S$7 per person as it assumes four people are travelling) and split the cost with other willing passengers. Like the taxi, this is also a more comfortable option than the bus and not expensive either. The railway station in Singapore is situated at Keppel Road , (Bus Service No. 100 from Beach Road ) and tickets to JB only cost around S$2.00.
